Cognac Grosperrin: Merchant and grower

Cognac Grosperrin is an independent, family-run house founded in the late 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, a former brandy broker. Now headed by Guilhem Grosperrin, the house continues its rigorous selection of rare and ancient eaux-de-vie, representative of the history of cognac vintages.
Based in Saintes, on the banks of the Charente River, it embodies a unique approach to cognac: that of a free agent, unattached to viticulture or distillation, who devotes himself exclusively to the art of identifying, acquiring, and elevating exceptional cognacs. Each selected batch bears witness to a unique origin, age, and context, revealed without blending or artifice. At Grosperrin, cognac is a heritage to be preserved, of which the house humbly serves as its custodian.

Breeder trader

Grosperrin's expertise is rooted in the tradition of 18th-century merchant-producers, particularly those of English origin who made their mark on the history of the cognac trade. This profession relies on specific expertise: the ability to unearth confidential batches of eaux-de-vie, sometimes dormant for decades in the cellars of small producers or heirs. These cognacs are then aged in the house's cellars, according to precise practices that respect their original character.

Grosperrin's role is not to transform, but to accompany: each cognac is individually monitored, without chill filtration or systematic reduction, and bottled in its most authentic expression. This requirement allows us to offer unique cognacs, whose value rests solely on their history, provenance, and integrity.

Private tours and exclusive events

Grosperrin offers an intimate and informative tour experience, designed for those who wish to discover the world of cognac from a different perspective.

Far from the traditional tourist trail, the house welcomes visitors to its Saintes cellars, in the heart of a former 19th-century industrial site on the banks of the Charente River. The tour, led by a member of the team, takes visitors behind the scenes of the trade of wine merchants and growers: a tour of the cellars, a presentation of rare batches, an explanation of the growing process, and a guided tasting of several cask-strength cognacs. It's an immersion into a world where each eau-de-vie tells a story.

Reservations are essential, as the number of places is deliberately limited to guarantee a special moment, worthy of the authenticity that Grosperrin defends every day.
