Description
Brand History:
Founded in 1997, Celtic Whisky Distillerie is one of the first French distilleries dedicated to whisky production. Located in Pleubian, on the north coast of Brittany, just a few meters from the sea, the oceanic climate gives the whiskies a unique marine character. A pioneer of French whisky, the distillery combines specific features that guarantee whisky production in the purest artisanal tradition: open flame heating, slow distillation, the use of traditional equipment such as two small pot stills and wooden fermenters, and, of course, seaside maturation. Thanks to its high standards of quality, it has become one of the most successful in France.
Manufacturing method:
Gwalarn, the world's first premium Celtic blend, benefits from all the characteristics and high standards that make Celtic Whisky Distillery whiskies unique. Born from a blend of whiskies of Celtic origin, Gwalarn combines the complexity of a Scotch whisky with the character of a Germanic whisky and the finesse of our distillery's French single malts.
Slowly reduced with water from the distillery's spring, Gwalarn is a complex, authentic and bold blend that is part of the Celtic Whisky Distillerie's collection of exceptional French whiskies.
Tasting note:
Nose: Rich and elegant, notes of cereals, ripe fruit and frank vanilla, on a peaty background reminiscent of Kornog.
Palate: The promise perceived on the nose is kept with a frank and lively attack, supported by the slightly peaty character. The suppleness of vanilla and honey provides a beautiful smoothness on the mid-palate.
Finish: Full and unique, the peat supported by the cereals reveals pleasant saline notes.
