Glann Ar Mor Porto Tawny Finish is an unpeated Breton single malt, produced by Celtic Whisky Distillerie, located in Pleubian, on the north coast of Brittany. Distilled from "Maris Otter" barley, it benefits from an initial maturation in bourbon casks, followed by a nine-month refinement in 500-liter Tawny Port casks. This double maturation gives the whisky delicious aromas of raspberry and cocoa, while preserving the saline and iodine notes characteristic of its marine terroir. Bottled at 53.5% cask strength, this whisky is offered in a limited edition of 294 hand-numbered bottles.

Description

Brand History:

Founded in 1997, Celtic Whisky Distillerie is one of the first French distilleries dedicated to whisky production. Located in Pleubian, on the north coast of Brittany, just a few meters from the sea, the oceanic climate gives the whiskies a unique marine character. A pioneer of French whisky, the distillery combines specific features that guarantee whisky production in the purest artisanal tradition: open flame heating, slow distillation, the use of traditional equipment such as two small pot stills and wooden fermenters, and, of course, seaside maturation. Thanks to its high standards of quality, it has become one of the most successful in France.

Manufacturing method:

For this finish, the choice fell on a Tawny Port, a fortified wine which, after fermentation, is aged for 5 years in 500-liter barrels, which gives it its tawny color (hence its name) and beautiful aromas. As always, acquiring ex-wine or alcohol casks is a difficult step because the quality of the barrels is essential in order to obtain a great whisky! Then, the long game of patience that is the aging begins, so that the alchemy between our Glann Ar Mor and the ex-Port cask is revealed.
