A family business founded in the 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, and now run by his son Guilhem and his sister Axelle, Cognac Grosperrin embodies the very essence of the cognac merchant-producer profession as it was practiced in the 18th century.

Description

Brand History:

The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.

Manufacturing Method:

Aged for 5 years in red barrels in a dry cellar and another 5 years in a humid cellar, this exceptional cognac comes from the commune of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron. The family estate where this cognac was produced is today one of the largest on the island. This little-known terroir was once an important production area and is exceptional in many ways. The sandy soils and salt-laden winds give this cognac sought-after maritime accents.

Nose: Invigorating notes of sea spray,
mimosas and warm sand, reminiscent
the aromas of the Wild Coast.
Palate: A delicious and saline balance, with aromas of macerated grapes and fruit
whites and fresher, pastry notes.
Finish: A beautiful tension behind the fruity notes, typical of the Oléron terroir.

Directions for use

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20°C), with a splash of water, chilled with whisky stones or ice cubes to provide slight dilution.
