Description
Brand History:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.
Manufacturing Method:
This vintage cognac was sold to us by a distillery in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, which acted as an intermediary between the winemaker and us. But in reality, this batch comes from a farm located several kilometers away, in Brie-sous-Matha, a village in the heart of one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Saintonge wine region, on clay-limestone soils. Rich in a winemaking history spanning almost a thousand years, this quiet village is renowned for the quality of its vineyards. This winemaker had kept his harvests from the late 1980s and early 1990s, due to the economic crisis that had hit our region hard since 1992. Sales had collapsed, and many winemakers had been forced to keep harvests from previous years, due to a lack of buyers.
Nose: Ripe mango, cooked pineapple, elegant salinity, ripe tropical fruits.
Palate: Supple and ample, fruity delicacy with refined spices, 31 years of well-integrated barrel age.
Finish: Velvety and very fragrant, accessible and seductive for lovers of Fins Bois.
