A family business founded in the 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, and now run by his son Guilhem and his sister Axelle, Cognac Grosperrin embodies the very essence of the cognac merchant-producer profession as it was practiced in the 18th century.

Description

Brand History:

The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.

Manufacturing Method:

This remarkable lot is one of the very few in the Grosperrin collection from a merchant-distiller. This important and renowned house, which was long owned by a Japanese spirits group, sold a few barrels of old Cognacs for unknown reasons. This highly confidential transaction was carried out through a licensed broker. This extremely rare lot, consisting of two barrels, is of undeniable interest, although we cannot guarantee that it has never been blended.

Nose: Burst of exotic fruits, lime honey, intense limestone aromas, old wood and rancio .
Palate: Frank, oily and lively attack, superb aromatic clarity between pure rancio, wax and cooked fruits.
Finish: Very long, full and dense, with a mineral conclusion of great elegance.

Directions for use

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20°C), with a splash of water, chilled with whisky stones or ice cubes to provide slight dilution.
