A family business founded in the 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, and now run by his son Guilhem and his sister Axelle, Cognac Grosperrin embodies the very essence of the cognac merchant-producer profession as it was practiced in the 18th century.

Description

Brand History:

The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.

Manufacturing Method:

This very old cognac comes from the commune of Réparsac, a town located in the heart of the Fins Bois region. It was produced by a winegrower who was also a nurseryman and who had developed activities complementary to his profession as a producer. Guilhem Grosperrin was very old when he met him, and this batch was the last he owned. He had kept it as long as possible to maintain a connection with his former activity and a foothold in the brandy trade.

Nose: Complex and surprising, fresh mushroom, blackcurrant, dried herbs, atmosphere of an old cellar.
Palate: Round and smooth, ripe blackcurrant, elegant animal notes, noble smokiness.
Finish: Long and vegetal, with persistent mineral and woody accents.

Directions for use

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20°C), with a splash of water, chilled with whisky stones or ice cubes to provide slight dilution.
