Description
Brand History:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.
Manufacturing Method:
This rare cognac comes from a small estate located in Verrières, on one of the most renowned terroirs of Grande Champagne. This winemaker, now retired, is renowned for the care, even love, he brought to his vines. He considered this lot to be "the best" of his entire production, and he had reserved for us for several years this last barrel from this harvest, stored in a small cellar adjoining the family kitchen. When you visit this estate, you are struck by the humility and authenticity of the place, which contrasts with what one can sometimes see in Grande Champagne.
Nose: Rich and complex, noble balsamic, cinnamon infusion, candied prunes, touches of precious wood and old rose.
Palate: Full and generous, silky texture, the aromas unfold with smoothness, sweet spices and cooked fruits.
Finish: Long and persistent, slightly tannic, carries the aromas into a structured and racy finish.
