Description
Brand history:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs lies in the desire to authentically showcase the heritage of the Charente region. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac craftsman, travels throughout the appellation each year in search of exclusive batches and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are nurtured like unique works of art, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a specific plot of land, a vintage, and a story.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Cognacs Grosperrin crafts intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all others.
Manufacturing method:
This rare cognac comes from a small estate in Verrières, in one of the most renowned terroirs of Grande Champagne. This winemaker, now retired, is known for the care, even the love, he devoted to his vines. He considered this batch to be "the best" of his entire production, and for several years he had reserved this last cask from this harvest for us, stored in a small cellar adjoining the family kitchen. When you visit this estate, you are struck by the humility and authenticity of the place, which contrast sharply with what you sometimes see in Grande Champagne.
Nose: Rich and complex, noble balsamic, cinnamon infusion, candied prunes, hints of precious wood and old rose.
Palate: Ample and generous, silky texture, the aromas unfold with smoothness, sweet spices and cooked fruits.
Finish: Long and persistent, slightly tannic, carries the aromas into a structured and elegant finish.
