Description
Brand History:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.
Manufacturing Method:
This very old cognac, benefiting from a minimum age guarantee of 37 years, comes from a joint ownership created on the occasion of the death of the winemaker's wife, who is now very old. The stocks from this inheritance aged peacefully in the family cellar located on the banks of the Né in the Archiac region, a remarkable terroir, before joining the Grosperrin cellars in June 2015.
Nose: Noble and racy, old rancio, faded flowers, patinated wood, subtle mineral structure.
Palate: Soft but structured, complex bouquet mixing licorice, damp earth, tubers and old rose.
Finish: Deep and refined, reveals persistent floral and vegetal layers.
