A family business founded in the 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, and now run by his son Guilhem and his sister Axelle, Cognac Grosperrin embodies the very essence of the cognac merchant-producer profession as it was practiced in the 18th century.

Description

Brand history:

The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs lies in the desire to authentically showcase the heritage of the Charente region. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac craftsman, travels throughout the appellation each year in search of exclusive batches and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are nurtured like unique works of art, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a specific plot of land, a vintage, and a story.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Cognacs Grosperrin crafts intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all others.

Manufacturing method:

This very old cognac, with a guaranteed minimum age of 37 years, comes from an undivided estate created upon the death of the winemaker's wife, who is now very elderly. The stocks from this inheritance aged peacefully in the family cellar located on the banks of the Né River in the Archiac region, a remarkable terroir, before being transferred to the Grosperrin cellars in June 2015.

Nose: Noble and refined, old rancio, faded flowers, patinated wood, subtle mineral structure.
Palate: Soft yet structured, complex bouquet blending licorice, damp earth, tubers and old rose.
Finish: Deep and refined, revealing persistent floral and vegetal layers.

Directions for use

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20°C), with a splash of water, chilled with whisky stones or ice cubes to provide slight dilution.
