A family business founded in the 1990s by Jean Grosperrin, and now run by his son Guilhem and his sister Axelle, Cognac Grosperrin embodies the very essence of the cognac merchant-producer profession as it was practiced in the 18th century.

Description

Brand history:

The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs lies in the desire to authentically showcase the heritage of the Charente region. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac craftsman, travels throughout the appellation each year in search of exclusive batches and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are nurtured like unique works of art, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a specific plot of land, a vintage, and a story.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Cognacs Grosperrin crafts intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all others.

Manufacturing method:

This vintage cognac comes from the canton of Rouillac, from the vineyards of a small producer located roughly halfway between the towns of Rouillac and Aigre, in the Charente department. This small estate in the locality of Patreville is typical of the family farms in the region. The 1990 harvest was stored at ORECO, under state control, from distillation until June 2012, when we acquired the property. Since then, it has been stored in a cellar secured by a gate and sealed.

Nose: Musky and vinous aromas, old Sémillon, wax and soft acetic notes.
Palate: Rich attack, nutmeg, licorice, supple and rustic, well-balanced.
Final: Warm and supple, classic and generous, typical of its age.

Directions for use

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20°C), with a splash of water, chilled with whisky stones or ice cubes to provide slight dilution.
