Description
Brand History:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs is based on the desire to bear witness to the Charente heritage without artifice. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac artisan, travels the appellation's lands each year in search of confidential lots and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are aged as unique works, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a plot, a vintage, and a history.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Grosperrin Cognacs craft intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all.
Manufacturing Method:
This vintage Cognac comes from a family of notaries who had been established in Cognac for several generations. This 1969 Petite Champagne was part of the father's estate, who had bequeathed his stocks to his wife and son, a notary like himself. The father had purchased this lot in April 1970, thinking he would resell it at a better price a few years later, as was the practice at the time among a few well-informed individuals. Unfortunately, the oil crisis, coupled with the end of the Vietnam War, caused Cognac prices to collapse shortly thereafter. Upon his death, his wife and son were no longer getting along, and the succession stalled for several decades until Grosperrin proposed a solution.
Nose: Very ripe fruit, dried pear, prune, smoky and pastry notes, Christmas pudding.
Palate: Powerful and fresh, lime blossom, hawthorn, ample and harmonious structure.
Finish: Long and serene, classic depth, great traditional signature.
