Description
Brand history:
The spirit of Grosperrin cognacs lies in the desire to authentically showcase the heritage of the Charente region. Guilhem Grosperrin, a true cognac craftsman, travels throughout the appellation each year in search of exclusive batches and family heirlooms. In their restored 19th-century cellar in Saintes, the cognacs are nurtured like unique works of art, faithfully reflecting a terroir, a specific plot of land, a vintage, and a story.
Where some blend batches from different origins to create quality products, Cognacs Grosperrin crafts intrinsically unique and rare cognacs, recognizable among all others.
Manufacturing method:
This vintage cognac comes from a family of notaries established in Cognac for several generations. This 1969 Petite Champagne was part of the father's estate, who had bequeathed his stock to his wife and son, also a notary. The father had purchased this lot in April 1970, intending to resell it at a better price a few years later, as was common practice at the time among a few well-informed individuals. Unfortunately, the oil crisis, coupled with the end of the Vietnam War, caused cognac prices to collapse shortly thereafter. Upon his death, his wife and son were no longer on good terms, and the inheritance dispute dragged on for several decades until Grosperrin offered a solution.
Nose: Very ripe fruits, dried pear, prune, smoky and pastry notes, Christmas pudding.
Palate: Powerful and fresh, linden, hawthorn, ample and harmonious structure.
Final: Long and serene, classic depth, great traditional signature.
